The beginning

I want to share with the world. Share my thoughts, my feelings, life-lessons, what I know, what I want to know, and document the memories that provoke emotion, thought, and blessings.

Let’s start from the beginning. Way, way, back to the beginning. No, not time – my life. My mom. The woman who taught me the importance of documenting the very things I just listed. From vintage prints to funky patterns, I always appreciated her collection of countless journals. Spiral bound, small, skinny, paperback. Some of them had phone numbers and names, while other’s had half scribbled notes. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one completely full of writing, but the importance of them was passed on to me. Naturally, she introduced the habit to me as a child. Encouraging me to keep a diary or a journal of some sort, I learned the importance of documenting things that made me happy, sad, motivated, angry, and thankful. What felt more like one of her assignments rather than a hobby, I resorted to the diary only to spill my irrational anger or teenage temper tantrums. (One time she discovered one of my nasty rants about her… Ouch. But more on that another time.)

And here we are nearly twenty years later with this blog about grass. Ok, it's about more than grass. Looking forward to sharing my life and stories with you. Enjoy!

  1. I think it is always a good idea to write down thoughts. I have often wished that I had this as a habit, because with a busy lifestyle, it may at point be necessary to use these notes as guidelines to help me integrate current events with future plans, and keep me on track. Well this is my reason for writing down my thoughts.

  2. I was also introduced to documenting things at a young age too! For me, it was my aunts. My aunts always got me journals, whether it was for my birthday or just because they thought of me when they saw one. So I also have developed the habit of journaling. But I've noticed I've crossed over to blogging in the last few years.

PS. My mom has found one of my rants about her when I was about 8 years old. Lol.

  3. That is such a good idea to keep a journal. I don't usually do it all the time, but I wish I had. I wrote a journal when I went traveling around Europe for a few weeks and I look back on it and laugh at the things that happened. I also used to keep a dream diary about all the dreams I ever had just to keep track of what may or may not have been happening in my real life that caused me to dream those things. I am kind of sad that I stopped, but this post kind of made me think I should try doing it again.
